EDITORIALS

You are to comment here about what you notice editorials have in common and what persuasive devices are used in the articles you look at.

    -Modal Verbs(must, will,can)
    -Opinion Verbs(irresponsible, wild)

  4. All the editorials i read expressed an opinon for or against the topic. They used stronge persuasive language such as adjectives and verbs to reinfource their point. They also gave exaples of what will happen/not happen in the future if the opinion they are expressing does't happen/happens.......he he thats what i think anyways bye bye

  5. HELP LOOK FOR MADDIE

    Most editorials show opinions (for or Against)

    In this editorial it talks about a little girl named Maddie. It uses modal verbs. Some of them are may, might and they believe.

    Also they opinion adjectives like strength of character and friutless ends.

    well i think that they cant ban it,, u gooter have fun while your youngh,, itws parents choices if they let there children drink... :) xx

  7. they also used retorical questions to pull people in and make them feel emotionaly about the statement as if they are involved or loved ones are ......:) <3

    -No one wants to be a prude.
    -crudely commercial target.
    -They give both for and against.
    -Give emamples

    EXAMPLE:
    The Cotton On company is unrepentant about clothes with lines such as "The Condom Broke and I'm Living Proof My Mum is Easy".

    -Editorials are full of persuasive, strong words that catch the attention of the reader.
    - They give examples for their argument and evidence to back it up.
    - Give examples of what may and may not happen in the future if their opinion happens or does not happen.

  11. The editorial that i focused on this English lesson was based on the under 16s football player who got hit over the head with a mallet and was knocked out cold.
    The artical uses editorial language such as modal verbs and opinion ajgectives. Modal verbs used in the editorial were words such as: should, can, will, must and several others. These words were used indicate modality.
    The opinion adjectives expressed in the artical were words such as: mass, clash, aggressive, severe and many more.

    -asked the reader small questions(asked their opinion)
    -used opinion verbs (like: terrified, deadly)
    -used madal verbs (like: should, must,could)

  14. The editorial i read was about the Kyle and Jackie O scandal. Kyle and Jackie O promised to donate $150'000 to a family with a four year old disabled boy.

    The story uses modal verbs and opinion adjectives such as...
    Modal Verbs: having, can, wil, should, ...
    Opinion adjectives: excited, massive..

    The story says how Kyle & Jackie O have not given the money to a severly disabled boy.

  16. Editorials usually persue a person to pick either side of the arguemnet.

    *Modal Verbs- must,cant,will
    *opinion adjectives- irresponsible,careless,frightening

  17. Cut medics in emergency services some slack.

    An anonymous Doctor from an emergancy department sent Mr. Kevin Rudd a letter saying that he belives he needs to do someting to help these doctors and nurses to feel more comforatble in there work place, and to give them a break because they cant get through every one as fast as the patietns would like them to.

    In this editoral both of the Editors have used modal verbs such as can and have to.

    *kicked a man to death for fun must be reviewed.

    *"a laughing assassin".

    *racist crime.

    *mindless attack by a gang.

    This artical doesn't give for and agiainst, it only goes against which i agree on.

  19. mothers suffer more or somethimes worst, because of the crimes their son's have committed:
    this boy had committed over 30 crimes, in which back fired on his mother and then she was trettened to be kill all because of what her son had done to others.
